At the beginning of the last century, the Masachs family was already dedicated to vine cultivation on their estate in Vilafranca del Penedès. Josep Masachs Llorach, a man of strong convictions and character, and dedicated to vine cultivation since childhood. He founded Caves Masachs in the late 1920s, producing cava in an entirely artisanal way with limited production. Intended for family consumption and close friends. Later, his son, Josep Masachs Juvé, continued his father’s work, maintaining the same philosophy of very limited and artisanal production.
n 1977 and 1978, Josep and Joan Masachs embarked on new directives and introduced a new line of cava to the market, based on the experience and knowledge of their ancestors. Gradually, in the national market and later internationally, the excellent quality of the cavas produced by this pair of young entrepreneurs became recognized.
These results and the increase in demand for their products made the facilities used since their grandfather’s time too small, prompting the construction of new facilities in 1985 at the Monsarra estate in Torrelles de Foix. Today, Caves Masachs continues to produce wines and cavas on their Monsarra estate with the same drive for excellence and quality that the founders began.
