Mestres family has been documented in Sant Sadurní d’Anoia since before 1312, and it’s association with the wine world has been maintained for 29 generations: Josep Mestres Manobens produced the first bottle of “Champagne Mestres” in 1925 which appeared on the market for Christmas 1928, and the “COQUET VISOL Triple Sec” in 1945, the first Brut Nature in history. Josep Mestres was the promoter of the word CAVA in the 50’s and officially in February 1960. At the same time, his son Antoni Mestres was the pioneer of fermentation and aging of base wines on the lees in barrils, being faithful to the philosophy of a unique elaboration method: Old vines of over 50 years old of traditional varietals – Manual harvest – 2nd fermentation in the bottle under natural cork on the lees – Long aging obtaining unique Grans Reserva – Hand disgorging, one by one. This Passion and Loyalty make MESTRES “The Maximum Expression of Cava”.
