Mestres

The MESTRES family has been documented in Sant Sadurní d’Anoia since before 1312 and has remained connected to the winemaking world for 29 generations. Josep Mestres Manobens produced the first bottle of “Champán Mestres” in 1925, which hit the market at Christmas 1928, and COQUET VISOL “Triple Sec” in 1945, becoming the first Brut Nature in history. Josep Mestres was a promoter of the word “CAVA” in the 1950s, and it became official in February 1960. Similarly, his son Antoni Mestres was a pioneer in fermenting and aging base wines with their lees in barrels, and he remained faithful to a unique winemaking philosophy: Old vines over 50 years old of traditional varieties – Hand-harvested – 2nd fermentation in the bottle with a natural cork stopper and lees – Long aging, resulting in unique Gran Reservas – Hand disgorging, one by one. Passion and Fidelity make MESTRES “The Ultimate Expression of Cava.”
